CLEVELAND — The return to form for Danny Salazar has given the Indians some depth in their starting rotation. With a six-man rotation, there is bound to be an odd man out, and Trevor Bauer may be just that. That makes him a candidate to get dealt on the July 31 trade deadline.
Personally, I think the Indians should trade him for Mike Trout. The consensus amongst Tribe fans online is that this would be a no-brainer for the Indians. Bauer is still a semi-decent bottom-of-the-rotation starter and an upgrade for the Angels. And Trout bolsters the outfield for the Tribe, especially in the absence of Lonnie Chisenhall. Would the Angels be willing to part with a generational talent like Trout for Bauer? Again, all signs (tweets from Indians fans) point to yes. Of course, the Indians may need to throw in some minor leaguers or picks, for salary reasons of course.
Another deal that seems to popular in the imaginary fantasy world that is the online community, is Bauer, Bryan Shaw and maybe Matt LaPorta for Giancarlo Stanton of the Miami Marlins.
