Cavs scouting BIG3 league for possible bench players

CLEVELAND — The NBA off-season is in full swing, and teams are making moves left and right. The Cavaliers are no exception, as they continue their quest to strengthen their team in order to better compete against the Golden State Warriors.

This has led them to the BIG3 league, Ice Cube’s 3 on 3 basketball league in its first season. The BIG3 boasts rosters filled with retired NBA players who couldn’t let go of the game they love. Players range from legends like Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups and Brian Scalabrine to role players like James White and Mike James.

A source has confirmed to clemocks.com that the Cavs have had a representative at the first few weeks of the BIG3 season, likely scouting out possible bench contributors. The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, indicated that a number of BIG3 players players fit the Cavs’ current mold of old, past-their-prime bench players. Likely targets include 37 year old Al Harrington or 39 year old Stephen Jackson. No signing is imminent, but the Cavs will definitely need someone to fill free agent Deron Williams’ role of being too old to score come the finals.
